TRAINING
• We have carried out six training
sessions for parents and catechists in the parishes of Lira, Nebbi and Gulu dioceses in 2009.
• Three-day sessions for 3 Catechetical centres:
Moroto, Mityana and Kasese.
• We finalised the analysis of the present
curriculum for SS schools regarding ethical-civic education
and the outline of a complementary Manual for civic
education in SSS, to be presented this year to the Ministry
of Education.
• We continue to prepare booklets on each of the basic themes
of the CST to help parents and catechists in their responsibility
as educators.
RESEARCH •
We have finished a research
in ten informal settlements of Kampala to establish
the cost of living and the prevalence of poverty within
the slums of the city especially duiring this global economic crisis. It is entitled: Kampala Basic
Needs Basket 2009.

We
have carried out three workshops with representatives of different
ethnic-cultural groups in Uganda to gather their traditional wisdom in
promoting a just, reconciled and peaceful society.
ADVOCACY •
We
have held six launching functions of the Kampala Basic Needs
Basket findings, in some six informal settlements. The National
Launching organised together with the Ministry of Lands, Housing and
Urban Development, to sensitise society and policy makers in the
ministries and to promote justice towards all, especially the most
marginalised will take place in October 2009.
•
We
are carrying out Open Lectures every two months in
different Institutions of higher learning:- Ggaba National Seminary,
KIU etc. Topics discussed: Human Rights, Climate Justice, Leadership,
the legal system in Uganda etc.

OTHER ACTIVITIES •
We have designed policies on: Gender, Peace building
and Reconciliation and on the care for the environment.
• Radio programs in Advent and Lent to present the Christian
understanding of Justice, Reconciliation and Peace in line with
the 2nd African Synod.
• We regularly participate in workshops organised
by the UEC – JP commission and different NGOs, like Trocaire, Human Rights Commission
etc.
• Publishing regularly articles of current social
issues in the Monitor daily paper and Leadership Magazine.
